Ready to Meet With Dr. Murphy?
Breast Augmentation Starts at $8,000
Because every patient's goals are different, the cost of breast augmentation varies from person to person. At Murphy Plastic Surgery & Medical Spa, treatment starts at about $8,000, which includes surgeon's fees, implants, facility costs, anesthesia, and all pre- and post-op appointments. If you combine your breast augmentation with another procedure, like a breast lift or mommy makeover, you can expect to pay more.
Although it can be tempting to shop around for an affordable surgeon, you should beware of "bargain prices" when it comes to breast augmentation. An experienced surgeon may charge more, but he or she is more likely to deliver results that you love. You should only consider reputable plastic surgeons like James E. Murphy, M.D. when searching for a breast augmentation provider.
During your consultation at our Reno, NV, office, we will provide a personal quote.

2 Types of Implants
for Your Dream Results
We offer saline and cohesive gel implants, so you can find custom care for your exact goals at our Reno, NV, practice. Our realistic breast implants create beautiful results, whether you desire a subtle change or a dramatic enhancement.
Combining Implants
With a Breast Lift
Patients with concerns about size, shape, and position may benefit from a combined approach. Dr. Murphy will fully assess your candidacy, making sure that it's safe to combine a breast lift and breast implants to increase volume and elevate your bust.
Always Love Your Results
With Implant Exchange
Over the years, you may decide that you want to change the shape, size, or type of your implant. Even the best implants will need replacement eventually, so it's crucial to find a plastic surgeon like Dr. James E. Murphy who is experienced in removing and replacing them.
Exploring Your Implant Options
Saline Breast Implants
Many patients at our Reno, NV, practice opt for implants filled with sterile saline, a solution similar to fluid found naturally in the human body. Typically, saline implants are more affordable than gel implants, giving you beautiful results at a price that fits into your budget.
They're also preferred by patients seeking to increase the size of their breasts, since they can potentially provide more volume.
Cohesive Gel Implants
If you want subtle, natural-looking results, cohesive gel implants may be the best option. This type of implant is known for its resemblance to the teardrop shape of unaltered breast tissue, as well as its natural feel.
Cohesive gel implants also remain intact in the case of a rupture, thanks to the type of material used. So, even if the integrity of the implant is affected, cohesive gel implants can minimize potential risks.
Both saline and cohesive gel implants are approved for use by the U.S. Food & Drug Administration. These implants are safe and provide natural-looking results when placed by Dr. James E. Murphy. The best option for you will depend on your cosmetic goals, budget, and personal preferences.

Your Breast Augmentation Procedure
On average, breast implant surgery lasts one to two hours.
Augmentation Consultation
Before beginning treatment, James E. Murphy, M.D. will carefully plan your surgery. Together, you will determine the right type of breast implant, the proper placement, and the best incision pattern for your needs.
Arriving at the Hospital
Breast augmentation is most frequently performed on an outpatient basis in a hospital operating room or outpatient surgery center. Dr. James E. Murphy will most often treat patients at the Renown South Meadows outpatient surgery center in Reno, NV.
Relaxing With Anesthesia
The breast augmentation procedure is comfortable, thanks to anesthesia. General anesthesia is most commonly used during this procedure, and Dr. James E. Murphy always uses a board-certified anesthesiologist to ensure the best results.
Making the Incisions
Dr. Murphy most commonly uses inframammary incisions, a technique that places incisions below the breast fold where the breast meets the chest. This incision is generally easier to conceal and may cause fewer breastfeeding difficulties than the periareolar incision option.
Inserting the Breast Implants
The implants you've chosen will be placed either over or under your pectoral muscles.
Closing the Incisions
Dr. James E. Murphy will close the incisions with sutures.
Wearing a Support Garment
You will be provided with a support garment that will be worn for approximately 48 hours, over your surgical bandages. After 48 hours you will wear a breast band to help alleviate swelling and help your implants settle into your chest, ensuring the best results. We also provide you with lymphatic drainage treatment post-surgery to help the healing process.

Breast Augmentation FAQ
Will my results change over time?
After your surgery, you will notice an immediate increase in breast size, but keep in mind that you will have some swelling at this point. We recommend performing massage exercises to relax the surgical pocket where your implants were placed. New implants tend to “ride high” at first, then relax into a natural placement over time. After about three months, the swelling will subside and your implants will settle, giving you a better idea of the final results.
Will my ability to breastfeed be affected?
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, most mothers who have had breast surgery can breastfeed. If you are planning to have children or breastfeed, discuss this with James E. Murphy, M.D., during your consultation. Some women choose to postpone their surgery until after they are done having children.
When will I see results?
One of the benefits of this procedure is that it offers rapid results. Immediately after your surgery, you will notice a change in your figure. As swelling subsides and you continue to recover, the results will become even more apparent. You will not only enjoy a more curvaceous figure, but you will also enjoy a greater sense of self-confidence.
